Frequently Asked Questions
Commonly requested information about Ecotherapy at Blossom Counseling

What is ecological therapy?
Ecological therapy, often called ecotherapy, is a form of healing that connects individuals with nature to support emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It may include outdoor sessions, nature-based mindfulness, gardening, or guided walks. Ecological therapy honors the relationship between human health and the Earth, rooted in the belief that healing ourselves also means reconnecting with the natural world.
Is ecotherapy effective?
Yes, studies show that ecotherapy can be highly effective in reducing symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Nature-based practices have been found to regulate the nervous system, improve mood, increase feelings of connection, and promote a sense of grounding and clarity. For many, ecotherapy complements traditional talk therapy in deeply transformative ways.
What does an ecopsychologist do?
An ecopsychologist blends psychology with environmental awareness. They help clients explore how disconnection from nature impacts emotional health, and they guide healing through nature-based practices. This can include outdoor therapy, rituals with the land, or exploring grief related to environmental destruction. Ecopsychologists support individuals in healing not just within themselves—but in their relationship with the Earth.
